Economy of Cape Verde

The Cape Verde is one of the poorest countries of the world.

Its GDP is located at the 205e world rank (2004, the CIA World Factbook), because of the weakness of its natural resources. In particular, Cape Verde is regularly victim of water shortages due to long periods of dryness. Only four of the ten islands of the archipelago can support an agricultural production for the normal periods of rain.

Its principal resources are the salt, the Pouzzolane (used in the manufacture of the Ciment), the fishing (Langouste and Thon) and the production of Banane S.
