Economic commission and social for Asia and the Pacific
The social Economic commission and of Asia and the Pacific or ESCAP (in English Social Economic and Commission for Asia and the Pacific or ESCAP ), based with Bangkok (Thailand), is one of the five regional commission of the United Nations for the Asia and the Oceania.
It is created in 1947 under the name of Economic commission of Asia and the Far East for the United Nations (in English United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East ) to encourage the economic co-operation between the Member States. Into 1974, it changes name to take the current one. The ESCAP is composed of 53 Member States (of which the France, the Netherlands, the the United States and the the United Kingdom) and of 9 associated States which answer of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
