Economic and Social Committee European
The Economic and Social Committee European (CEASE) is the Consultative Assembly of the economic partners and social European.
The CEASE was established to make it possible all the economic actors to be made hear (with the help of formal opinions) of the Commission, Conseil and Parlement, and to thus take part in the decision-making process of the European Union.
The opinions given by the CEASE are published in the Official journal of the European Communities and are 170 per annum on average.
Origins
Legatee by the the Treaty of Rome (1957) for purposes to associate the various groups of economic interests and social with the realization of the Common Market and to give them an institutional instrument to make known at the Commission and the Council of the European Union their points of view on all the questions of Community interest.The European Single act (1986), the Treated of Maastricht (1992), the Treated of Amsterdam (1997) and the Traité of Nice (2000) consolidated the CEASE in its functions. The Traité of Maastricht widened attributions of the Committee considerably.
Its influence extends henceforth to questions like the industrial relations policy, economic and social cohesion, the environment, education, health, the consumer protection, industry, the networks trans-Europeans, indirect taxation and structural bases.
Composition
The committee is composed of 344 members (having the title of advisers) resulting from the socio-economic mediums from Europe. Proposed by the national governments, they are named with personal capacity by the Council of the European Union for one period 4 years renewable and acting as any political independence, according to the following distribution:-
Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom: 24
