Economic Union and monetarist West African
the economic and monetary Union West African (UEMOA) is a sous-régionale organization which has like mission the realization of the economic integration of the Member States, through the reinforcement of the competitiveness of the economic activities within the framework of a market open and competing and of a rationalized and harmonized legal environment.
History
It was created with Dakar (Senegal) the January 10th 1994. Its seat is with Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).At the time of the 8th top of the State and government of the UEMOA which was held the January 10th 2004, Tandja Mamadou, president of the Niger was renewed with the presidency of the Union for a one year mandate. Soumaïla Cissé (Mali) was appointed president of the Commission of the UEMOA.
At the time of the top of Niamey the March 30th 2005, Tandja Mamadou, president of Niger was renewed with the presidency of the Union for a one year mandate.
Member States
Eight States are members:72 million inhabitants, is 30% of the population of the West Africa live the Member States. The UEMOA covers a surface of 3,5 million km ².
