Eclassan

Eclassan is a common French, located in the department of the Ardèche and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Eclassan is located on a plate which overhangs the Rhone, at the level of the communes of Sarras and Saint-Vallier. On the commune of Eclassan one finds a mount called Montbard, dominating the whole of the commune. It culminates with 530m.

Eclassan has a small church in the center of the village. It has a square bell-tower.

In addition, during centuries, the pride of the inhabitants of Eclassan was the Young elm, an old tree several centuries. However, it was victim of a love at first sight during the years 1980 and a tempètes finished falling it. Since, a new young elm was replanted.

In top of Montbard (mount dominating the commune), one finds a small vault and a martyrdom which one can reach thanks to a way of cross, as well as a water tower.
