Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica

Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) entered in 1910 O.T.O of Reuss as VII° (at this time, any 33° REAA could enter the O.T.O like VII°). June 1st, 1912, Crowley was received by Reuss IX° and was received its designation like Grand National Master X° for Ireland, Iona and British Isles. The following year, it published Proclamation of the MM which included the Catholic Gnostic Church in the list of the organizations whose wisdom and knowledge are include in the O.T.O.

Crowley also wrote Liber XV, The Gnostic Mass, into 1913 which will be published the first time in 1918 in the International one, and still in 1919 in The Equinox, vol. III, NR. 1 (The Blue Equinox), the bible of Art Magick de Crowley, and finally in 1929/30 in appendix VI of Magick in Theory and in practice. The Latin name Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica was created by Crowley in 1913 when he wrote Liber XV. In Chapter 73 of the Confessions of Aleister Crowley, he notes to us that he wrote Gnostic Mass as a " Ritual of the Gnostic Church Catholique" that it prepared for " the use by the O.T.O., of the central ceremony of public or private celebrations, corresponding to the Mass of the Romaine." Catholic church; It is obvious that Crowley saw the E.G.C and the O.T.O like inseparable; particularly compared to the IX° of the OTO, called " the Sovereign Sanctuary of Gnose" , in which Crowley had been intié the year before he writes Gnostic Mass.

In 1918, Reuss translated Gnostic Mass of Crowley into German, by making a series of leading modifications and published it under the auspices of the OTO. In its publication of Gnostic Farmhouse, Reuss gave Bricaud like the Sovereign Patriarch of the Universal Gnostic Church and itself as Légat for Switzerland for the EGU and Sovereign Patriarch and Primacy of Die Gnostische Katolische Kirche, a title which it can have received at the time of the conference of Paris of 1908.
