Eberhard Jäckel

Eberhard Jäckel , born the June 29th 1929 with Wesermünde, is a German Historien, professor of modern history at the university of Stuttgart.

Biography

Eberhard Jäckel makes its higher learning at the universities of Göttingen, Tübingen, Freiburg, Gainesville and Paris. In 1955, he becomes assistant at the university of Freiburg. He passes his enabling on France in Europe of Hitler . Translated into French, it is one of the first works underlining the autonomy of the Régime of Vichy in its decisions and calling into question the theory of the “double game”, invented by partisans of Philippe Pétain after the war. But its repercussion, in France, is less than that of Robert O. Paxton, published five years later.

From 1967 to 1997, Eberhard Jäckel is professor at the university of Stuttgart. He also taught at the universities of Oxford and Tel-Aviv.

Since 1967, Eberhard Jäckel is member of the Parti social democrat German.

Work

Author of many work on the Nazism and the Shoah, it places himself among the intentionnalists, i.e. the historians considering that Adolf Hitler had formed the project to exterminate the Jews before the release of the Second world war, and not afterwards. He more generally stuck, in Hitler ideologist , to show that Hitler had built a true ideological system . In 1990, it received, with its collaborator Lea Rosh, Geschwister-Scholl-Preis, for their work on the Déportation of the Juif S in Europe.

Jäckel approved the searchs for his/her American Guenter Lewy, conclusive colleague that the deportation and the massacres of Armenian S in the Ottoman Empire, in 1915-1916, do not constitute a Génocide.
