Eastern China Sea

The Eastern China Sea is a marginal sea which belongs to the Pacific Ocean. It covers 1  249  000 km ². In China, one calls it “Sea of the East” (东海), in Korea one calls it “South Sea”.

Geography

The Eastern China Sea is closed in the east by the islands of Kyūshū and the islands Ryū-Kyū, in the south by Taiwan, the west by the China itself. It is connected to the southernmost China Sea and the Mer of Japan. It opens in north on the Yellow Mer.

The territories which border this sea are: the South Korea, the Japan, Taiwan and continental China.
