History
Eastern Air Lines was founded the April 19th 1926 under the name of Pitcairn Aviation. Pitcairn gained a federal contract to convey the mail between New York and Atlanta. In 1929, Clement Keys, the owner of North American Aviation, bought Pitcairn. Into 1930 it changed the name into Eastern Air Transport, which was soon known under the name of Eastern Airlines.
In 1938, the airline company was bought by Eddie Rickenbacker, have First World War. Rickenbacker inserted Eastern in one extraordinary period of growth. During the Years 1940, competitors were bought, of the planes more advanced assets and the open international lines. Eastern Air Lines officially stopped its activity on January 18th, 1991.
