Easter in New York
Easter in New York is a poem of Blaise Cendrars (1887-1961), published in 1912 under the title Easter with the New men, a publisher which it created the same year with Emil Szittya. It is into 1919 that the poem will receive its final title.
It is one of the texts founders of modern poetry. It influences Apollinaire and all the literary movement which is created around him.
Imprisoned with Health to have stolen to the display Hérésiarque & Co , a collection of tales of Apollinaire, Cendrars forwards to this last a letter recalling him that it had sent to him a specimen of the Easter a few weeks before and asking him its assistance. Perhaps thus it meets finally Apollinaire who makes it penetrate in the movement of modern poetry, uses it as negro and is inspired by him in certain poems of Alcools.
The undeniable resemblances which one raises between Easter and Zone were the subject of many debates and controversies of which it is difficult to draw from the final decisions.
