East Renfrewshire

The East Renfrewshire ( Siorrachd Rinn Friù year Ear in Scottish Gaelic) is one of 32 administrative divisions of the Scotland.

District

East Renfrewshire is frontier Renfrewshire and of Glasgow in north, South Lanarkshire in the east, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire in the west. This area was formed in 1996 on the basis of district of Eastwood and Barrhead .

Of a surface of 174 km ², East Renfrewshire is the 28e administrative division by its size and the 24e by its population (89 610 inhabitants). Its administrative capital is Giffnock.

An elected official represents East Renfrewshire with the Parliament of Great Britain and another with the Scottish Parlement.

In 2001 a study showed that about half of the Jewish population of Scotland lived in East Renfrewshire.
