Earth (group)

Earth is a group of American Drone doom based with Seattle, formed in 1990 by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon, and Greg Babior.

Although having played of the varied styles of music, they are more known to be the pioneers of the Drone doom. Their first albums can be perceived like an experimental variation of the metal of the Melvins, influenced by the doom metal.

Dylan Carlson is currently the leader of the group. He is also the only member of origin still playing with Earth. Apart from the world of the music underground, Carlson is perhaps more known to have been the best friend of the icon of the Grunge Kurt Cobain. It is besides Carlson which, at the request of Cobain, bought the famous revolver (which was with the judicious departure being used as a protection) that Cobain used to commit suicide. After Earth moved in Seattle, Cobain sang on the song " Divine and Bright" , track of a demonstration included in the album live Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars .

The group had a great influence on the scene drone, more particularly on Sunn O))).
