EXpanded MultiPlayer
eXpanded MultiPlayer or XMP is a Add one for Unreal 2 carried out by Legend Entertainment in 2003. This MOD combines the Jeu of subjective shooting including fighting vehicles with management of resources and tactical placement. It is now developed by Free Monkey Interactive for Unreal Tournement 2004 .
Presentation
XMP is the response of Legend Entertainment to a massive request of the community, which claimed the addition of a multijouor mode to Unreal 2 .This official MOD was published in December 2003 in a new commercial release D Unreal 2 , like in a downloadable version (in the same way contained) for the players having Unreal 2 already .
A little more than one month after the release of the version Unreal 2 MOD , Atari closed Legend Entertainment. A studio of independent development, Free Monkey Interactive then made the necessary steps near the old developers, which always held the rights, to adapt MOD under UT2004. Thus, on December 10th 2004, UTXMP (for Unreal Tournament XMP) is placed at the disposal of the community and gains a sharp success.
Rules of MOD
Gameplay
XMP is a kind of fusion between the CTF and the Assaut mode of UT2004. Here, two teams dispute the control of 4 artefacts. Each team has two at the beginning of the part of them and must manage to gather the whole in her base.
Energy and hacking
The principal difference with the traditional modes of play like the CTF and the Attack is energy. This one is necessary for about all in the play. It is used to record the artefacts, to activate turrets, to pose mines, etcIt can be recovered thanks to the capture of generators (generally 3 per chart) that the players can adapt themselves by pirating them. Each generator increases your reserve of a given level. Starting from 500 units, the functionalities (vehicles, turrets,…) all the 50 are activated U. To 800 U, the team can record the enemy artefacts.
The player can also pirate points of deployment, and doors (all the enemy doors are closed to you). To pirate, remain near the objective and support on “Using”. You are very vulnerable during the operation.
Points of deployment
They are places where the player can reappear after being killed if no other player were in trimmings. To capture these points makes it possible the team to be better organized, and prevents the opposing team from choosing her positions. By defect, the cycle of redeployment is 25 seconds (and is independent for each point).
Classes
3 classes are available in XMP. The player can change some with each deployment.
Scout (To arrange)
The light unit. Few points of life, but a raised speed, and the possibility of looking after its fellow-members.The scout is armed with a gun, of a rifle of sniper, smoke grenades, explosive and of packs of health.
Engineer (Tech)
The engineer is a class of an average weight. He pirates more quickly, repairs the armours and can pose turrets and barriers.He is armed with a rifle of attack, a rifle with pump, and grenades EMP, very effective against electronics (armours, vehicles…).
Gunner (Gunner)
The gunner slow, but strongly is armed and protected. It can also pose traps and return ammunition to its fellow-members.It is armed with a rocket launcher, of a flame thrower, grenades with napalm and misappropriation, and of packs of ammunition.
Vehicles
XMP adds 3 vehicles to the play.
Raptor
A light and fast buggy, but with few points of damage. It is armed with a rotary turret, and blades with before which ensure the death of the crushed players.
Harbringer
Average armor, mean velocity, Harbringer high vehicles in three places: a driver and two gunners (gun EMP, rocket launcher). Its high center of gravity makes that it will tend sometimes to be turned over.
Juggernaut
A tank or the driver has at its disposal a flame thrower and the gunner, a powerful mortar.
Traps, turrets and barricades
The engineer with the possibility of posing turrets Minigun (sulfate sprayers) and rocket launcher, as of the fields of forces which will block the enemy units (if those do not destroy them). The turrets are weak, but placed in dead angles, it can be mortals for an enemy who will have to wipe a cross shooting. The gunner can pose anti-personnel mines (activated when somebody walks above) and of the mines laser (activated when somebody crosses the ray). They can be destroyed by enemy shootings.
