EVE Online
EVE Online is a Online game massively multi-player with a persistent Monde being held in the space. It was developed by CPC Ranges and was published by Simon & Schuster Interactive in 2003. Simon & Schuster Interactive does not publish any more the play in its version box and CPC now offers the play in remote loading on its Web site.
The players take the orders of pilots of spaceships to the research of fortune and the adventure in immense a Galaxie.
EVE Online plunges her players in a galactic world on real scale, controlled by a capitalist Economic system .

Gameplay
This play is very different from the others MMORPG. It was largely inspired per series of the Elite, Privateer and Freelancer and it is first of all a play based on the saving and the capacity, doubled in a space simulation. These choices make a relatively atypical online game of it.Although concerning the field of “simulation” more than of the “arcade”, this play does not claim to be a space Flight simulator which would respect all the laws of the Physique. Even by disregarding concept close to the Science fiction (the warp and the jump spoil are clearly related to the concept of Hyperespace), the player is discharged enough from certain problems of Accélération, Attraction of the bodies, and even of the frightening task to align itself vis-a-vis the entry of a station. History
Humanity, following the discovery of the space flight, had colonized as much as it could its galaxy. This expansion had caused the appearance of immense interplanetary corporations. Once these corporations were not able any more to further go, they were turned over the ones against the others in ceaseless wars inter-worlds.
The appearance of a Hole of natural worm, after many years of war, seemed then with certain " the last hope of the humanité". Quickly, of many colonists engulfed themselves there, to land under an unknown sky which they were unable to locate. This natural passage was baptized EVE, and the first solar system discovered in this new galaxy was called " New Eden".
The Human ones explored and colonized the close systems at an incredible speed, but were still completely dependant on their fatherland of origin, when " the incident" occurred: The passage towards EVE crumbled on itself, destroying the system " New Eden" with the passage, in an apocalyptic catastrophe of a width never yet known by humanity. Crossed of all resources, the thousands and thousands of human took with the trap were in a total insulation. During millenia, these human had to fight against the extinction, and civilization and all its technological advancements disappeared.
However a handle the human ones survived. Civilization reappeared at the end of one moment and developed, to form the major empires which currently live the world of EVE.
The training
In the majority of MMORPG, the increase in the capacities of a character is carried out by gaining points of experiment in order to gain levels, generally while killing out of the enemies.
In EVE Online it is a system of training which makes it possible to improve its capacities. The character can learn any competence ( skill ) constantly: the training being based on an interface " with the Matrix " between the brain of the character and a " machine with apprendre" , the time of training varies according to certain attributes like the memory, the intelligence, etc But, once the initiated operation, the training is carried out without intervention of the player, even when it is not playing (disconnected).
Except for the competences acquired with the creation of the character, the following ones are not free (in ISK, the currency of the play), and their access can depend on the preliminary knowledge of other competences, according to a tree of competences. The more competences are located high in the tree, the more their cost of acquisition is raised, and their time of training lengthens. Thus, no player cannot reach competences too quickly corresponding neither to his real level of experiment in the play, nor with the fortune of his character (E.g what good is it to have competences to control a vessel costing 100 Million ISK, when one has only 50.000 of them and that one gains a few thousands per day painfully of them? Or, when one does not have competences - in the play as in the head of the player - to manage the armament which it requires?)
A page of the official site is dedicated to competences of its characters and makes it possible to follow the training without returning in the play.
This system counterbalances the enormous quantity of competences which can be learned. Moreover, associated with 14 days the free trial period (too much short to obtain a really dangerous character), it also makes it possible to reject the not very serious players very quickly. These players with the youthful behavior pollute many online games, MMORPG or not, with as only goal to have fun with depend on the others without complying with the rules (e.g by trapping the new players, while playing against their camp), with for consequences the nausea of the latter and their disconnection, even their cancellation of the subscription.
It should be noted that the training of the totality of competences of the play is evaluated at several years and that by the updates or the appearance of extensions of competences are regularly added what makes almost impossible to arrive " with the bout" system of competences.
Contents
The incarnated character is created with the choice among 4 races (as well as a fifth which is not accessible to the players) resulting from the first human colonists of this part of the universe, each one of them being subdivided in three subraces. The choice of a race does not offer particular advantages compared to another, apart from the initial access to styles of radically different vessels (such race is specialized in the missiles, such other in the lasers, etc)Physical creation is summarized to establish a portrait. Indeed, the character remains throughout the play in a capsule (pod) of survival. The only appearance is thus due to the vessel, but the editor works on the possibility of having misadventures in 3D, and the possibility of moving freely in the stations with his character, in the years to come.
The possibilities of play are numerous. Mainly centered on the market economy:
- collection of natural resources thanks to the mining of asteroids
- Refining of these resources
- research (for the improvement in time or quality of the production) then industrial production
- sale of the objects created.
- execution of missions for agents representing of the private interests. (these missions are comparable with the searches of others MMORPG)
- the war between factions, corporations (a great tournament of combat player against player in team which is strictly regulated is organized regularly)
- the participation in events (" events") bound to characters played by employees of editor CPC.
- the Smuggling
- the Piracy
- hunting for the English " premiums (; Bounty Hunting").
Through plans ( blueprints ), the variety of equipment, implants and vessels to be built gives what to be occupied with any qualification level.
The market economy of the play leaves a great place to the trade. The players can buy or resell the objects manufactured by others as well as human resources like slaves, mercenaries or tourists. The prices depend on the station of sale or the choice of the salesman, creating a dynamics between the various solar systems. The trade between remote stations can be very profitable. The players can also exchange without moving, by creating missions of mail, to repatriate their goods of a station to another realizing finances. They can also develop competences of trade, which make it possible to buy and sell in a a whole area without moving, and earn money on the price differences from one place to another, or be delivered to the Spéculation.
A system of searches given by characters not-players, the agents exists. It makes it possible to easily earn money while mining or by éradiquant the pirates.
It is thus possible to play relatively as a recluse but as in all MMORPG there exists a system of Guilde S, called Corporation S. the corporations allow to put joint goods and can have their own space stations.
The combat is possible against pirates managed by the computer ( Player versus Environment: PvE ) or against of truths players ( Player versus Player: PvP ). The confrontation between players is not restreint : each corporation can declare the war in a unilateral way. The battle can also be carried out as a recluse in direct confrontation or by hacking. Lorqu' a player strikes in an protected area by the police force (managed by the artifielle intelligence of the play), it must expect massive reprisals, to which it has few chances to survive if it is alone. Many zones are however not protected by the play, and it is then the law of the strongest which reigns, with its procession of wars. It is besides it should be noted that Eve sees, as in reality, of the empires to be formed in certain zones, while others are delivered to " lords of the guerre" , as in the China of the years 1930, or the Somalia of the years 1990.
The players have the possibility of offering rewards for the extermination of a player in particular when, for example, they are victims of free aggressions. The rewards on the same player cumulate and return automatically to that which cuts down it.
Currently, the play exists only in English, German, and Chinese (the Chinese version having when with it an access to a waiter specific to the Chinese players). No date was officially indicated for other localizations. However the tutorial is entirely in French, and editor CPC announced running 2007 that the French version was in the course of translation.
Inscription
The players can invite friends to use an offer of 14 days test on the official site. The license granting the right to play costs 19,95€ and includes/understands one month of subscription. Then the tariffs are of 14,95€ for one month, 38,95€ for 3 months, 72€ for 6 months and 131€ the complete year. The payment is possible by bank card, pay by cash or Eve Time codes (ticket with code).It should be noted (information always valid in November 2007) which it is more interesting to pay in USD (by chart Visa for example), the course of the US Dollar being favorable: once the commission of Visa taken on the payment of $14,95, one month returns to less 12€.
Evolution
As in the majority of the plays massively multi-players, of the updates are carried out regularly. Moreover, a extension leaves every year and brings greater changes. The next one, Revelation 3 , so known under the name Trinity , is planned for the end of November 2007. It must bring, in first with the users Windows equipped with ad hoc graphics cards, of the susbtantielles modifications to the graphic engine (passage to the Shader Model 3.0 , model 3D and textures definitely more detailed). The players not having the necessary configuration will be able to always use the current version of the graphic engine.
