EURid
EURid (Acronym of European Registry off Internet Domain Names ) created on April 8th 2003 is the association charged by the European Union with the recording with the domain names Internet .eu . It is based with Diegem (suburbs of Brussels) in Belgium.
EURid is a non-profit-making association of Belgian right.
More than 100.000 of requests for domain name .eu were lodged with EURid the December 7th 2005, first day of activity of association. The setting in activity of these domain names was planned for 6 months later. 346.218 requests for 245.908 domain names were made under Sunrise procedure. The procedure Land Rush began the April 7th 2006.
At May 9th 2006, more than 1.700.000 domain names were active.
