ESPN U

ESPNU is a television channel of the group ESPN specialized in the university sporting meetings. It is produced by ESPN and is based in the buildings of the regional chain of ESPN with Charlotte in North Carolina.

As the remainder of network ESPN, ESPN U belongs to 80% with the Walt Disney Company and to 20% with Hearst Corporation.

History

The chain was launched the March 4th 2005 since the stage of the Gallagher-Iba Arena within the campus of the Université of Oklahoma to Stillwater. The birth took place at the time of the retransmission on line of a match of basketball between the university of Oklahoma and that of Texas.

This launching was a response of ESPN to the recent launching of a young rival chain named College Sports TV (CSTV) and repurchased since by CBS.
