ESPE Basket Châlons-in-Champagne is a club French of Basket-ball evolving/moving in 2006 - 2007 in Pro B. The club is based in the town of Châlons-in-Champagne.

History

Create in 1925, the Hope Tennis shoe or more commonly “Espé Basket” indicates the section “Tennis shoe” of the club of sport châlonnais “the Hope” which gathers many sports activities like the Gymnastique, the shooting and finally the tennis shoe.

The section tennis shoe will have a long time known amateurism to finally be able to taste the happiness of the various rises in the hierarchy of the national tennis shoe. Until same reaching the Pro has twice and settling like one of the big-engined cars of the Pro B while being often qualified for the playoffs of end of season.

The occasion initially to pay homage to the president of the time (since 1985), Jean Arnould, deceased in November 1997, which succeeds in the bet to bring the Hope of the N3 to the Pro has in only 6 years. Arnould had known to convince the elected officials to offer to the club the sporting enclosure necessary to its development (the sport hall Pierre de Coubertin was inaugurated in 1988). It could also convince the private sponsors to adhere to this sporting great project.

Seasons

Season 1990 - 1991: Magic Carter offers the accession to the Greens

Espé is at the time leader in Nationale 2 and counts in its rows a player of big class, Howard Carter, come to remake a health in Champagne after a serious wound (rupture of the Tendon of Achilles) under the fine shirt palois 1989.

Number 7 châlonnais returned perfectly on the level to find the Pro has but awaits quietly his naturalization. More still than the Mobylette Pascal Dassonville or Mark “ born to dunk ” Mitchell, it is this formidable joker which will make it possible the club to obtain the accession in N1B and to gain the cut of France seniors.

A splendid final, one Sunday afternoon in the “green cauldron” of Coubertin vis-a-vis the team of Athis-Mons and its American Harvey Knuckles.

The departure of Howard.

May 31st, 1991, the Pau-Orthez Dash and its stars of N1A (the brothers Thierry and Didier Gadou, Jean-Luc Deganis, Paul Henderson, Christian Ortega, Mike Jones…) come to seek Carter. A friendly match is organized and Casing threads the shirt palois at the half-time. Espé gains this match. The transition is done carefully…

At the conclusion of this season of 1990-1991, Philippe Gouvion and the young person Marc Thévenin leave the club. The first season of Francis Charneux to the head of the club is a total success… The following one will be it as much!

Season 1991 - 1992 (N1B): An exceptional rise

This season 1991-1992 does not begin from best in the ways since as of its 2nd match with Coubertin, Espé, unconquered in residence since about thirty matches, folds vis-a-vis the modest formation of Chatou taken along by the scorer Marcus Gaither and that which will become the future pivot châlonnais in 1996-1997, Cédric Miller.

The season is announced difficult but as of the following match, châlonnais them carry out a small exploit while going to carry it at the ultra-favorite team, the Levallois Sporting Club Tennis shoe of formidable Terence Stansbury. On the occasion, Claude Williams marks 29 points and especially gobe 22 rebounds, the record of the history of the club.

Espé achieves one unhoped-for season, reaching mathematically as a Pro has as of the 22e day and finishing 2nd behind Levallois-Perret, at the same time obtaining the accession towards the elite in spite of a reduced manpower with 7 professionals following the ousting of Robert Carman (controlled positive with the Canabis) at the conclusion of the matches outward journeys.

The return match to vis-a-vis Levallois will remain, in spite of the defeat (76-86), like one of hottest in the history of Coubertin.

Some figures:

  • 22 victories-4 defeats (84,6%) (behind Levallois 24-2),
  • better defense of N1B with 75 pts boxed on average,
  • 6th attack with 86 pts.

To note: the average multitude with Coubertin was of: 2915 spectators at the time of this exceptional season.

Season 1992 - 1993 (N1A): Baptism of fire

A first season in difficult N1A, but with the extraordinary outcome. By misant all on their defense, châlonnais them go glaner painfully some successes in Coubertin thanks to the support of the public châlonnais and to impose itself twice outside (with Dijon and Montpellier) in the season.

Espé terrace the ogre palois

Before the last day, in spite of the extraordinary season carried out by Claude Williams, Espé is mathematically relegated in N1B. However, in Coubertin at the time of their last home match, the players châlonnais will carry out the exploit to come to end from large the Pau-Orthez and its Rumanian giant George Muresan (2m30) at the end of a match of anthology.

A Didier Przygoda of fire and an exemplary solidarity allow châlonnais to hang the 13th place (on 14 teams) thanks to the basket-average with Dijon and Roanne. In same time, Saint-Quentin, in prey with large financial problems cannot go up as a Pro has what will benefit châlonnais which is fished out in N1A!

Some figures:

  • 7 victories-19 defeats (27%) (13th on 14 teams) in front of Roanne,
  • Dernière attack with 66pts by match,
  • the 4th defense with 76,5pts boxed.
  • Assessment of 5v-8d in residence (victories vis-a-vis Lyon, Roanne, Mans, Dijon and Pau-Orthez) and outside 2-11 (victories in Dijon and Montpellier).
  • Leaders:
    • better marker: Claude Williams (18.7pts)
    • better rebondor: Claude Williams (10.3rbds)
    • better frontier runner: Pascal Dassonville (2,6pds),
    • MVP of the season: Claude Williams

To note: Espé carried out its best average multitude with: 3076 spectators per match (for a capacity of: 3024 sitted places). One refused 600 people to attend Espe-Villeurbanne and the match Espé- Limoges was retransmis in the common neighbor of Saint-Memmie on giant screen.

Season 1993 - 1994 (A1): Return to earth

Year of change with the combined departures of Mark Mitchell (3 seasons with the club) and Claude Williams (2 seasons). Departures also of Dominique Devos and Emmanuel Torres.

If Marcus Campbell, the substitute of Claude Williams will make perfectly the deal, Espé will not find the winger suitable to replace Mark Mitchell (talented but too young Herb Jones, old bulldozers of Chicago Ricky Blanton, Pasteur and ex- rémois Joe Ward and finally very limited Kenny Brown).

In spite of the correct contribution of the other recruit, Johnnie James, inside, the season is catastrophic. Francis Charneux is dismissed (much too hastily) after 8 matches (1v-7d) and is replaced by inexperienced (and voluntary) the Arnaud Chaplain. Espé, absolutely not on the level, runs body-and-hearts.

The team will not until January 15th, 1994 gain any more one match and the reception of Villeurbanne in Rene-Tys. One great moment of the history of the club that this victory after prolongation vis-a-vis the team incipient from the Rudd, Curry and Digbeu.

Espé buckles the championship on 8 defeats of sharp and finishes the season with the sad assessment of 2 victories-24 defeats.

Some figures:

  • 2 victories-24 defeats (8%) (14th on 14 teams).
  • Assessment of 2v-11d in residence and outside 0-13
  • individual Performances:
    • 29pts for Marcus Campbell vis-a-vis Pau-Orthez,
    • 28pts for Marcus Campbell vis-a-vis Montpellier,
    • 18rbds for Marcus Campbell vis-a-vis Levallois,
  • collective Performances:
    • broader victory: +3 vis-a-vis Mans and +3 vis-a-vis Villeurbanne (a-p),
    • broader defeat: -46 in Pau-Orthez at the time of the 2nd day.
  • Leaders:
    • better marker: Marcus Campbell (18.4pts),
    • better rebondor: Marcus Campbell (8.9 rbds),
    • better frontier runner: Pascal Julien (2,9pds),
    • MVP of the season: Marcus Campbell

To note: the average multitude was of: 2585 spectators over the season (of which Espé-Villeurbanne disputed in Rheims in front of: 3500 people)

Season 1994 - 1995 (Pro B): The fall

Arnaud Chaplain (assessment of 1v-17d in N1A) is confirmed with the coaching. Didier Przygoda, Pascal Julien and Charly Williamson left the club while Olivier Danné returns from his loan to Vrigne. Espé engages two American with the modest pedigree: Andre Green with the wing and the white pivot David Hinton.

It is felt nevertheless that this team whose French framework is preserved (Dassonville, Dezelus, James) has the means of making good figure in division. However the hopes will be of short duration.

As of the first day, Espé is inclined with Lourdes (team of Didier Przygoda and the young person Fabien Dubos trained by Patrick Maucouvert, which will be liquidated as Vrigne-with-Wood in the course of season) before coming painfully to end from modest mauriennais in Coubertin and undergoing 5 consecutive defeats.

Arnaud Chaplain is unloaded after 7 matches (1-6 but 1-4 officially by taking account of the combined Vrigne-with-Wood fixed prices and Lourdes) and is replaced by the former Vrigne-with-Wood trainer (club which has just filed for bankruptcy) Jean-Denys Choulet. One believes initially in the providential man after three consecutive victories. But the team falls down quickly in its through to the image of her American winger Andre Green who is cut after 13 matches.

One then feels no team spirit and more no solidarity. The club finds a young winger talented to replace it in the person of Izett Buchanan but this last is wounded after 6 matches. Abdul Fox, coldly left NCAA, will finish the season.

In spite of the irreproachable season of Eric Dezelus, Espé finishes in the penultimate place! One season to be forgotten. Damage for the last season of the faithful captain Pascal Dassonville.

Some figures:

  • 8 victories-18 defeats (31%) (13th on 14).
  • Assessment of 6v-7d in residence (one is far from the green cauldron) and 2v-11d outside.
  • individual Performances:
    • 34pts for Andre Green vis-a-vis Hyères-Toulon on October 8th, 1994,
    • 34pts for Izett Buchanan vis-a-vis Poissy on February 11th, 1995,
    • 32pts for Abdul Fox vis-a-vis Caen on April 8th, 1995,
    • 33pts for Eric Dezelus vis-a-vis Hyères-Toulon on February 4th, 1995,
    • 31pts for Pascal Dassonville vis-a-vis the Harbor on October 29th, 1994,
    • 31pts for Eric Dezelus vis-a-vis Le Havre on February 25th, 1995 (demolished 116-121 after 2 prolongations),
    • 17rbds for Johnnie James vis-a-vis Turns on March 11th, 1995
  • collective Performances:
    • broader victory: +22 vis-a-vis Hyères-Toulon on February 4th, 95 (104-82),
    • broader defeat: -36 with the La Rochelle on December 10th, 1994.
  • Leaders:
    • better marker: Eric Dezelus (17,6pts),
    • better rebondor: David Hinton (7.5rbds),
    • better frontier runner: Pascal Dassonville (4,5pds),
    • MVP of the season: Eric Dezelus

To note: The average multitude was of: 1838 spectators with a point with: 2600 spectators vis-a-vis Tours on March 11th, 1994.

Season 1995 - 1996 (Pro B): Rock bottom

Confidence is maintained in Jean-Denys Choulet, who can this time build his team with his own way.

The coach châlonnais will choose the American option inside by recruiting Joe Wilbert and Stan Pink. With return to the club, Didier Przygoda is associated to the young person Sebastien Lafargue with the wing (Eric Dezelus having joined Gravelines in proA). Carries out is entrusted to old a vrignois, Bruno Rodriguez.

The forecasts of the specialized newspapers are surprisingly pessimistic (12th on 16 for Maximum-Basketball) but proves unfortunately (almost) right. This second season in proB is catastrophic. After a beginning semi-fig semi-grape (4v-5d after 9 days), Espé sinks literally: 7 defeats of sharpened between 10th and the 16th day and of the memorable residence paperboards vis-a-vis Toulouse and Chalon-sur-Saône.

Many changes from abroad (whose it excellent Winters Voices) and the arrival of Alex Sylva (other ex-vrignois!) nothing will change there: Espé stagnates with 15th and penultimate place during 13 days before failing the 13th place painfully. 3rd consecutive season to forget: these are difficult times!

Some figures:

  • 9 victories-19 defeats (32%) (13th on 16)
  • Assessment of 8v-6d in residence and 1v-13d outside (with Roanne).
  • individual Performances:
    • 41pts and 47 of evaluation for Voices Winters on April 13rd, 1996 vis-a-vis Poissy (17/18 with the shootings is 94%),
    • 18 rbds for Voise Winters on March 23rd, 1996 vis-a-vis Caen.
  • collective Performances:
    • broader victory of the season: +30 vis-a-vis Hyères-Toulon on May 3rd, 1996,
    • broader defeat of the season: -29 vis-a-vis Chalon-sur-Saône on December 16th, 1995.
  • Leaders:
    • better marker: Voice Winters (25.2pts),
    • better rebondor: Voice Winters (9,1rbds),
    • better frontier runner: Alex Sylva (6,8pds),
    • MVP of the season: Voice Winters

To note: The average multitude was of: 1907 spectators with a maximum of: 2800 vis-a-vis Roanne.

Season 1996 - 1997 (Pro B): Espé lives again!

Over the 4 last seasons, the assessment châlonnais is overpowering: 26 victories-80 defeats. Espé does not gain any more.

A man will revolutionize the club: Alain Thinet the ex-best French trainer with Roanne. This last which leaves an unhappy experiment in proA with Cholet (crossed) has freehand to recruit and will compose a superb team with the means of the edge.

Thinet will seek 4 players of N2 (Cléante, Moustin, Bilon, Gilgeous) and excel it pivot of Saint-Brieuc Cédric Miller. These 5 there will form at the sides of the survivors Sebastien Lafargue, Bruno Rodriguez and Didier Przygoda a superb team which will finish 2nd championship behind untouchable the armada Toulouse.

In only one season Espé passes from 9v-19d to 22v-8d! Of this formidable team, 4 players will join the Pro later has proof of their great qualities (Cléante with Strasbourg, Miller and Bilon with Cholet and Lafargue with Borough-in-Bresse). Espé lives again!

Some figures:

  • 22 victories-8 defeats (73%) (2nd on 16) 11v-4d in residence (Nantes, Toulouse, Maurienne and Angers) and 11v-4d outside.
  • individual Performances:
    • 36pts for Brian Gilgeous in Angers on December 14th, 1996,
    • 30pts with 3 recoveries for Gilgeous,
    • 20 rbds for Cedric Miller vis-a-vis Caen on October 19th, 1996…
    • 16rbds with 2 recoveries for Cedric Miller,
    • 15rbds for Eric Balk,
    • 17 pds for Christian Cléante vis-a-vis Maurienne on February 25th, 1997,

    • better rebondor: Cedric Miller (10,0rbds),
    • Better frontier runner: Christian Cléante (7.9pds, better frontier runner proB),
    • MVP of the season: Cedric Miller

To note: the average multitude was of: 1947 spectators per match (+2%) with a record of: 2800 at the time of the arrival of the Toulouse leader.

Season 1997 - 1998 (Pro B): That regrets!

In spite of the departure of Alain Thinet to Borough-in-Bresse, Espé has a new dynamics and a new statute. This team makes fear again and logically forms part of the favorites for the accession behind the large team of Levallois which aims at the immediate increase.

The framework of the team was preserved, Benoît Georget (old the mauriennais under the orders of Patrick Maucouvert) coming to numerically replace Didier Przygoda (left with Rodez in N2) and Keith Bullock compensating for the departure for Cholet of Cedric Miller. The new coach is the former trainer of Rheims and the Mans Ernie Signars.

Only shade in the table, the Fracture of tiredness to the right foot of Brian Gilgeous which deprives it of the first 4 matches of the season. It does not matter, the team begins suitably the season with 3-1. Gilgeous makes its return at the time of a quiet victory vis-a-vis Maurienne +16 and starts to find its feelings. At this time of the season, the team reaches a level of play which seems to carry out it straight in Pro has. But Gilgeous is wounded again vis-a-vis Angers: its last match of the season (7-1). Espé will remain at the head until the 24e day and a defeat in the leader angevin. But not finding a substitute with the height of Gilgeous, the club will finish finally in the 6th place. (Pascal Dassonville had returned the time of 3 matches to help the team)

Some figures:

  • 21 victories-13 defeats (62%) (6th on 18), 15v-2d in residence (Borough-in-Bresse and Rueil), outside 6-11. Matches outward journeys: 13-4, return matches 8-9.

  • Leaders:
    • better marker: Sebastien Lafargue (18.1pts),
    • better rebondor: Keith Bullock (8,8rbds),
    • better frontier runner: Christian Cléante (8,4pds),
    • MVP of the season: Christian Cléante. Better frontier runner of proB for the second consecutive season (8.3 pds). Christian Cléante exceeded with 16 recoveries the bar of the 10 decisive master keys during this season 1997-1998.

Under pressure, Châlonnais incline 60-71 vis-a-vis the SIG and know consequently a large bad patch (7 defeats in 12 matches). Especially, Stanley Brundy is wounded vis-a-vis Mulhouse in residence and Espé essuie vis-a-vis the Alsatian team a reverse difficult to digest: In spite of one fulgurating gone up in the last minutes orchestrated by one 4 out of 4 with 3pts of Milt Wagner, Espé is inclined at the last second on one charity toss missed by Florent Eléléara 69-70. The club calls upon old house, Keith Bullock, to replace Brundy temporarily. This last will save the team vis-a-vis Le Havre in residence (57-56). Stanley Brundy makes its return at the time of the 33 E day. Espé is then second with three victories of Strasbourg and equality with Angers. In spite of the weak contribution of its new interior Nigeria N (to runs physically), Espé gains its 5 E victory of the season vis-a-vis Mans (77-72) before being inclined in Pau of 10pts. In front of the cameras of Pathé Sport, châlonnais them fall easily Besancon in Coubertin (83-68). At 12 days of the end, Espé is 13 E with the classification and account 3 victories in advance over the Gravelines red lantern. The maintenance is in right track. The team inclines itself heavily in Dijon (- 21) before the crucial meeting of the season with Gravelines. Led 9pts to the pause, châlonnais them take the orders of the match with 7 ' of the term (62-58), still carry out 3pts on a basket of Perry to 45 seconds of the buzzer. The BCM takes again the advantage on 2 penetrations of McIntyre (+1) but Tunji Awojobi has the 2 charity toss victory at 2 seconds of the siren, it misses them all the 2 and Espé inclines 74-73, wasting a beautiful occasion to outdistance Gravelines definitively. A defeat which will make very badly with moral châlonnais, atomized the week following vis-a-vis Montpellier of Minlend, Evans and Kraidy (66-94!). Châlons then will incline accuracy in Nancy (- 3), to fall in Coubertin under the Parisian missiles (15/21 including 7/7 for Chris King and 79-54 for PSG-Racing), then in Limoges (- 18) before the defeat vis-a-vis Strasbourg. Forts of 18pts in advance to the pause, châlonnais them incline themselves on the wire vis-a-vis Strasbourg (on a clapper of Lothian Jack at 2 seconds of the siren) and find the only last with the classification! Espé then will be inclined in Châlon (- 20), vis-a-vis Cholet (- 4) and in Villeurbanne (- 27). The penultimate day for glaner one will have had to be awaited 7 E victory (102-88 vis-a-vis Évreux). To finish 15 E, châlonnais them then need to gain with Antibes while hoping for a defeat of Montpellier with Evreux. Unfortunately, private of Awojobi (casualty and replaced by Brett Robisch) and Perry, Espé holds only one half-time in Antibes and is inclined. Damage because Montpellier had lost… Châlonnais carried out one courageous season, practiced a coherent tennis shoe but conceded too many defeats on the wire to be maintained as a Pro A. Espé will have especially suffered inside where none the American interiors had the discounted impact. The leaders announce a new project over 3 years (with progressive evolution of the budget from 6,4 to 10 franc million in 2002-2003). A new cycle starts. Lastly, Maucouvert calls upon 2 Bosmans at items 2 and 3. Américano-English Andrew Brook and the Yugoslavian Bozidar Vukazic. Espé does not leave favorite in this championship where the large one evolves/moves CSP Limoges. The first 2 meetings outside will confirm it (- 16 with Mulhouse and -21 with Roanne). Espé remains nénamoins solid with Coubertin (+11 Maurienne, +15 Rueil, +11 Rheims, +24 Beauvais, + 23 Poissy) vis-a-vis teams of less gauge. Broad winners in Brest (+19) in the wake of a Paul Graham monstrous (36pts-11rbds-44 of evaluation), Espé also shows beautiful qualities of reaction to Limoges (- 3 with final). After 9 days, Espé counts 6 victories for 3 defeats. First crushing argument at the time of the 10 E day with the reception of Nantes. Paul Graham pête leads in first half and scoop of a disqualifying fault. The play châlonnais is some completely destabilized. Nantes takes a lead in the wire on a shot on the buzzer of Marchioness Gainous (+2). A sad defeat is followed from there to Angers (- 5) and a second crushing argument in residence vis-a-vis the modest formation of Bondy. With an American pair completion out of the blow (2/15 for William Davis vis-a-vis the Canadian giant Pascal Fleury), châlonnais them incline themselves heavily (- 12). Espé conceded 3 defeats of at a stretch. The players include/understand the message well and will tear off an important victory with Golbey-Épinal (+4) beginning of a series of 7 victories in 8 matches (Hyères +12, in Vichy -8, in Rueil +7, Mulhouse +3, in Rheims +36, Roanne +4, in Beauvais +8). With an assessment of 13v-7d after 20 days, Espé was well replaced with the classification and can always aim at the 2 E place behind the untouchable CSP. At the time of the 21 E day, Espé vintage a victory very acquired vis-a-vis Brest. Taken along by a royal John White at the end of the match, the residents of Brest carry it of a small point with Coubertin. The defeat of too for Espé? Perhaps, more especially as Paul Graham always feels his wound with the elbow contracted in Vichy and will miss 3 consecutive matches (+14 in Poissy and 31 points for Vukazic, -13 vis-a-vis Limoges and -6 in Nantes). With the return of Graham, Espé atomizes then Angers (+33), will seek a victory of a point with Bondy thanks to one dishevelling Paul “money-time” Graham. The assessment of 16v-10d still authorizes a good place for the playoffs. But Espé concedes its 5 E demolished with residence, vis-a-vis Golbey-Epinal this time. In spite of one étincelant Graham author of decisive baskets at the end of the match, Espé is inclined of a point on a clapper dunk of Clarence Thrash at the last second of the match. Exceeded in Hyères-Toulon (- 14), châlonnais them finish the season on 2 victories (Vichy +8 then in Maurienne +1). The final classification can leave regrets to the châlonnaise team. Espé finishes 7 E with 18v-12d with equality with the 6 E Mulhouse and with a small length of 4 teams (Golbey-Epinal, Roanne, Vichy and Hyères-Toulon). The second place behind Limoges (23-7), synonymous with advantage of the ground in playoffs, was perfectly playable. Without the advantage of the ground, the quarterfinals of playoffs vis-a-vis Golbey-Epinal are announced delicate. Espé is inclined logically at the time of the first match in the Vosges (66-77) then atomizes the ASGE at the time from the 2 E match in Coubertin (103-73 and 28pts of Paul Graham). One begins to dream. But the ASGE is begun again perfectly at the time from the 3 E match (75-85 always in Châlons) in the wake of enormous Clarence Thrash (22pts-18rbds-41 of ev), inflicting severe at the time from the 3 E quarter-time vis-a-vis châlonnais dumb-founded. Meanwhile, Paul “Doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde” Graham had once again pêté leads vis-a-vis the referees. Espé finishes its season on one 3 E demolished in the Vosges (83-92). The feeling of frustration is large per hour to draw the conclusions from this season. One thinks that without the sudden changes of mood and the wound of its leader Paul Graham, Espé could play the rise. In the same way, the choices of the bosmans Vukazic and Brook are debatable afterwards. But it will be also retained that the young people drew their pin well from the play (Akpomedah and Essart belongs to all best French of division) and that Espé carried out a good pickaxe with the fighter William Davis in racket. These three there will be precisely preserved with Florent Eléléara to constitute the base of the team 2001-2002 which will be coachée by Joel Delaby, the trainer of the hopes of the JDA Dijon (Patrick Maucouvert leaving to Besancon). {| class=" wikitable" |+ Team 1999-2000 ! Joel Delaby signed a three years lease and intends to patiently build a team able to join the elite and to contribute to the development of the structures of the club. The official objective of beginning of the season is to finish among the eight first to dispute the stoppings. Realistic objective with this complete manpower of nine professionals. The first match of the season vis-a-vis Golbey-Épinal lets forecast good things for this team (+29). But the three following defeats quickly will cool the local heats quickly. Espé is inclined vis-a-vis Évreux, in Vichy and Roanne without never being able to fight. The phase outward journey is buckled with the sad assessment of seven victories for eight defeats including one new failure in residence vis-a-vis Rheims. Espé shows a chronic irregularity and paid “Romano failure cash”. Obviously not in his element, the Italian is thanked after 11 matches and is not replaced in manpower. Initially recruited as a first external rotation, Fred Demontoux will be finally established with the back all the season. The beginning of the phase return confirms the châlonnaises difficulties. After a convincing victory vis-a-vis Évreux, Espé sinks in Vichy (- 23) before being dominated in residence by Roanne and inclining themselves vis-a-vis Saint-Quentin. The stoppings appear out of reach within sight of the assessment (8v-11d) but the team awake and gain three of its four following meetings. After a defeat with Mulhouse, Espé tears off an unhoped-for success vis-a-vis Bondy thanks to William Davis, author of a basket preceded at the last second of the prescribed time. On the impetus of this victory, Espé is essential vis-a-vis Maurienne, its first success outside since four months and half! All is not yet perfect since Espé is inclined two weeks later in Rheims in spite of the 40 points of William Davis but the team will show in this end of season unsuspected mental resources. The victory with Épinal to close the regular season confirms it, a new team was born. Benefitting from favorable results, Espé is classified finally fifth of the season (16v-14d), capping on the post Évreux, Besancon and Golbey-Épinal. And it is only one beginning… Espé starts the stoppings drum beating while being essential on Rueil before exploding the francilienne team with the return (+30) in the wake of an Anthony intolerable Stanford to long distance. With the following turn, the 15 E of Pro has, Borough-in-Bresse, does not resist the furia châlonnaise either. Beaten in residence, the fellow-members of Steeve Essart carry out the exploit to assert themselves twice on Borough-in-Bresse and qualify themselves finally! The first match in Roanne will bring back everyone on ground. 72 hours hardly after its exploit bressan, Espé is inclined of 24 items (93-69) in the furnace of the Market Andre Vacheresse. The return match to Coubertin will show if need be all the valiancy of Châlonnais (80-76) which pushes their adversaries with a third decisive match. Four of the five best markers of the team pile up again out of Champagne (Stanford, Akpomedah, Essart and Demontoux). Worthy William Davis leaves her place to Lorenzo Orr, which quickly puts the public of Coubertin in his pocket. The odd interior is as spectacular with the dunk as it is awkward with the throws. It will finish the season with 46% of success. Out of relay of Steeve Essart, Vincent Mouillard arrives of the hopes of Cholet. Manpower is supplemented by Yannick Gaillou, young tweener coming from Bondy and the warrior Namé Tandia, of Champagne return after a bracket in Besancon. Individually, Anthony Stanford gives the tone as of starts championship by making a success of double triple (17 points, 19 rebounds, 10 decisive master keys for 39 of evaluation). However the demolition of its American winger does not make it possible Espé to outside gum its chronic weaknesses. Like the former season, the team is fragile far from her bases (only 4 victories). She manages however to take a beautiful revenge at the time of the derby return to Rheims, on the wings of an excellent Essart-Akpomedah pair. Finally sixth of the regular season, Espé finds Rueil with the first turn of the playoffs. Like the former season. Once again, the team of Joel Delaby created feeling while imposing itself of entry in the Hauts-de-Seine (17pts of the " joker" Yannick Gaillou). In spite of strong Doyal, Rueil can only be inclined with the return match to Coubertin. Fred Demontoux is incandescent vis-a-vis his old club (6/9 with 3-pts). Espé faces the Besancon-native scarecrow in semi-final. For the match n°1 disputed in Doubs, the team pushes the BBCD with the prolongation. Shea Seals, old Villeurbannais, substitute of Preston Shumpert saves his team in the last minutes. Without Lorenzo Orr wounded, Espé tears off the match n°2 in residence (72-70). The decisive match in Besancon is splendid of intensity. In spite of the incredible partition of Anthony Stanford (35pts with 9/15 to 3pts, 13rbds, 45 of evaluation!), Espé is inclined once again after prolongation (92-95).
