E.B. Farnum

Biography

E.B. Farnum was one of the very first inhabitants of Deadwood. It opens a small store in 1876 there. Before its arrival with Deadwood, E.B. Farnum and its family lived in Wisconsin.

Seeing all the potential of the camp, it becomes purchaser of several batches along the street pricipale. With other business men, it contributes to the creation of a road uniting Deadwood with Centennial in order to ensure the provisioning of the camp It also invests in mining companies. In 1876, he is elected mayor and obtains an official recognition of the camp by the government of the territory. He also holds the judging function. He will leave finally Deadwood for Chicago, Illinois.
