Dysmetry

The dysmetry is a medical term indicating an execution of the movements without measure to time and space, with a too long or too short movement in its orientation. One finds a dysmetry in the attacks of the Cervelet and in particular in the attack of the higher cérébelleux stalk.

In a cérébelleux Syndrome kinetic, the disorders of coordination and voluntary accuracy of mouvement belong to the table. The dysmetry is frequently found with in particular the hypermetry, the asynergie, the dyschronometry and the adiadococinesy.

The dysmetry is found during the clinical examination thanks to various operations:

  • on the level of the upper limbs, the test index - point of the nose, or index - ear lobe highlight a difficulty for the index of achieving the goal, even a going beyond of this goal (hypermetry), and a hook post-kinetics, the hand carrying out a hook to return on the desired target;
  • on the level of the lower extremities, the test heel - knee also highlights the dysmetry, possibly the hypermetry, the descent of the heel along the tibia is irregular, in zigzag, and the foot is rested heavily on the bed.
