Dying Philippe Sweat

Dying Philippe Sweat ( Ph' lippe Sueux Mouothant into Norman), born in 1848 with Jersey and dead the August 21st 1918, is a writer Normand.

From an old family of the parish of Saint Saver, Dying Philippe Sweat returned, after having worked with Newfoundland and Lorient, to be established in Jersey in 1880.

He wrote in Jersey under the name of Bram Bilo in the Nouvelle Chronicle of Jersey like in French under the name of Samuel in the Chronique of Jersey of the series of articles reporting the adventures of typically Jersey characters, first of all of the countrymen then, starting from 1911, of Jersey naive downtown vis-a-vis the increasing anglicisation of the company. Its subjects show an author who had assimilated the human condition well with all his assignments, his faults and his comedies in the life of the families.

“Having killed” its first large character, Bram Bilo , it invented the family Pain of which it begins the adventures in 1911 in the Morning News then in the Gâzette of the ( Jersey Evening Post ).
