Dwarf State of worry

Nain State of worry ( Rumpelstilzchen ) is a tale of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.

History

A boasting peasant claims that his/her daughter is able to change the Paille into Or while spinning it like Laine. The king then makes take along the girl of the peasant to the castle, and makes it place in a part filled with straw where a Rouet is.

Whereas the girl of the peasant wonders how to leave itself this dilemma, a Nain appears and proposes to him to spin the straw in its place, if it gives him something in exchange. But after the first attempt, the king wishes to have even more gold.

The dwarf comes then still twice from continuation in assistance to the girl of the peasant, and decides with the third time that in exchange, it must give him her son first-born. When the girl of the peasant become queen forgets the agreement, the dwarf returns to see it and its due claims to him.

In front of the refusal of the queen, he proposes to him then to leave him his son first-born, if it succeeds in guessing her name within three days. The first two days, the queen proposes a whole series of names, but no answer is the good one. The third day, a servant who with surprised the dwarf entonnant a song in which it reveals his name, brings back this to the queen. When at the evening of the third day the dwarf returns to see it, the queen proposes a whole series of names, and gives finally the good answer. Insane of anger, the dwarf then puts himself to type feet with such a force, which it passes through the floor, and disappears for always.

Anecdotes

In certain versions, the dwarf is famous " Barbichu".
In other versions, the dwarf dies while breaking into two through trépigner of anger.

Adaptations

Rumpelstiltskin , American science fiction film, where the Dwarf State of worry finds himself in the contemporary United States of America.

In the first play of the series King' S Quest , Graham meets the Dwarf State of worry and this last proposes to him to help it if it can guess his name, by giving him three chances.

In cartoon film Shrek the third , the Dwarf State of worry is with the tavern with the other malicious ones of fairy tales. The Prince charming challenges it, but is mistaken on his name.

In cartoon film Cinderella & the prince (not too) charming the Dwarf State of worry (who resembles more has a goblin) is the servant of the mother-in-law of Cinderella.
