- Atréides
- Harkonnens
- Ordos, which does not exist in the book were added for the needs for the play. One can possibly bring them closer to the intrigante Guilde.
The developers reintroduced in the play much elements of the saga of Dune, like Station IX, the Sardaukar S imperial, the reaping-machines and the worms of sands. The harvest of the spice is of course the principal resource of the play.
Description
Dune II is one of the very first strategy games in real-time, considered as the first of the modern strategy games in real-time. It introduces with the kind much concepts which are the mark of the kind today. It puts in scene several “families” or factions sélectionnables. Each one being sufficiently different from the others to offer three completely distinct scenarios of play.
This Gameplay was taken again thereafter by the traditional ones such as Warcraft: Orcs & Humans or Command & Conquer . Dune II is one of the precursors of the kind, although it did not offer the possibility of play as a multijouor in network, which made the success of its successors.
Even if its graphics are now largely exceeded (especially from the exit of sound remake in 1998) Dune II remains traditional kind. It made it possible the Wargame to touch more many people.
