Duisans

Duisans is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Its inhabitants is called Duisanais.

Geography

Duisans is located at 8 km in the west of Arras. It is crossed by the Gy, affluent of the Scarpe besides (the latter borders the hamlet of Rent-the-Duisans).

Demography

Places and monuments

The castle of Duisans, of the 18th century, is classified historic building. It shelters the Clairefontaine college.

It is Antoine-Guillaume Dubois of Hanover, member of the Council of Artois which decided to replace its residence by this castle. It called upon the Master-mason André Merville considered for his work with the Abbaye of the mount Saint-Éloi. The castle was built between March and November 1752.

The commune also accommodates two elementary schools, Camille Corot and Sainte-Marie.
