Duet Campion/Vachon
The Duo Campion/Vachon is composed of the Québécois pianists Guy Campion (born the September 14th 1957) and Mario Vachon (born the May 26th 1958). It was formed in the years 1980, its repertory includes/understands the traditional type-setters and the film music.
Formation of the duet
Guy Campion and Mario Vachon met at the beginning of their studies in music, with CEGEP of Drummondville, in 1978. The following year, at the time of a hearing, the pianist Rachel Martel, the piano teacher of which they followed the courses, suggested to them preparing a work with four hands, Beautiful the eccentric of Erik Satie.This first experiment seals the tandem of the two pianists who, consequently, more and more will devote themselves to the deciphering of the repertory for duet.
They enter, in 1980, with the faculty of music of the Université Laval: Mario Vachon in piano and Guy Campion in piano and composition. They will make to their six years of class of piano with for professor the pianist Joel Pasquier.
The examination of chamber music of 1983 enables them to make profitable their years deciphering of the repertory for duet by interpreting works of Bach - Busoni ( Choral is a prelude to ), Brahms (waltz of the opus 39), Ravel ( My Mother Oye ), Gershwin ( Three preludes for piano ) and Lutoslawski (variations).
The following year, selected for the emission Young people artists, the duet will make his first experiment of the public on Radio Canada, with, with the program, Ravel ( My Mother Oye ), Gershwin ( Three preludes for piano ) and Lutoslawski (variations).
Thus is launched the career of the duet which will connect the concerts while continuing academic works.
The finished studies, the duet will carry out its career from Quebec, then France where it settles in 1988.
