The 13th Karmapa, Düdül Dorje (1733 - 1797)

Düdül Dorje was born in Champa Drongsar in the South from Tibet. It had a mink powerful of the guard courroucé Mahakala and told many stories of its preceding lives. He was recognized at age the 4 years and was placed on the throne by Gyaltsab Rinpoché with the Monastery of Tsourphou.

At the 8 years age, it met large the 8th Taï Sitou Rinpoché, Chöji Jungnay, whose long life had included that of the 12th Karmapa and should coincide with most of the life of the 13th Karmapa. At the 12 years age, it accepted all the lesson Kagyu 8th Taï Sitou Rinpoché and 6th Kyabgön Drukchen, Kagyü Trinlay Shingta. It also accepted from Rigdzin Tsewang Norbu of the lesson Nyingma. The 13th Karmapa and the 8th Taï Sitou Rinpoché declared that the youngest brother of the 6th Panchen LAMA, Lobsang Palden Yeshe, was the reincarnation of Shamar.

The 13th Karmapa was very liked animals and it was famous to be able to communicate with them.

According to a legend which would have been prophesied by Padmasambhava, celebrates it temple of Jokhang, residence of the statue of the Jowo, was threatened by flow of water which went up in relation to powerful spirit snake (naga). Knowing the prophecy of Padmasambhava, the authorities of Lhassa required the arrival of Karmapa. Incompetent to come immediately, it solved the problem by writing a letter with the naga by calling upon there the compassion of Avalokiteshvara.

On its arrival with Lhassa, the 13th Karmapa offered a white scarf (kata) to the image of Jowo, and the arms and weapons of the statue changed position to accept it. They remained thus since.

One also asked Dundul Dorjé to devote a distant monastery. Incompetent to go there, it threw grains of blessing in the air with Tsourphou, at the time of the ceremony of dedication, and one saw them falling from the sky to hundreds of kilometers of the monastery in question

Düdül Dorje also found and identified the 9th Taï Sitou Rinpoché, Pema Nyinche Wangpo. The 9th Taï Sitou Rinpoché was disciples close to Karmapa, and became holders of the line. The Karmapa Düdül Dorje died in the sixty-fourth year.
