Ducru-Beaucaillou castle
The castle Ducru-Beaucaillou , is a wine field of 75 ha, located at Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in the Gironde. In AOC Saint-Julien, it is classified second great wine with the classification of 1855.
History of the field
The first traces of the field would go back to the 13th century. The castle will be during several centuries the property of the Bergeron family until 1720. The castle passes in 1795 pennies the control of the Ducru family, whose field takes the name then. The soil
Ducru-Beaucaillou encepagement owes its name with large low register stones of Günz having a thickness from 6 to 8 Mr. is to 70% in Cabernet-sauvignon and 30% Merlot, with the will not to use the Petit verdot or the frank Cabernet.
