Duck (North Carolina)

The town of Duck is a community located in the Comté of Dare in North Carolina on the northern part of Outer Banks. Originally forming part of the County of Currituck in north, the part of Outer Banks which includes Duck was transferred in the county from Dare to the beginning from the 20ème century. The city has approximately 500 inhabitants.

History

The area was named according to the great quantity of Canard S ( duck in English) and of alive Oiseaux close to banks. The close zone was sporadically populated until in 1970 (during the years 50, it was used with storage as bombs for the American Naval Aviation). The growing community remained not-built-in until 2002, when the North Carolina General Assembly House Bill 882 passed, incorporating the city. Duck shelters 500 residents now permanent and a port for the coastal research of the Corps of the engineers of the army of the United States.
