Duchy of Saint-Simon

The duchy of Saint-Simon was set up in January 1635 starting from the seigniory of Saint-Simon, of the baronnies, Viscount, grounds and seigniories of Benay, Clastre, Bridge-Avennes, Artran, Gauchy, Ugny-l' Équipée, Thorigny, Pontruel, Savy (Aisne), of Rumigny, for the benefit of Claude de Rouvroy of Saint-Simon, count de Rasse, Favori of Louis XIII.

Claude of Saint-Simon had one son, Louis, celebrates it memorialist, which inherited duchy-peerage in 1693. Louis of Saint-Simon resigned of the peerage of the duchy of Saint-Simon in 1723 in favor of his Jacques-Louis son, from now on known like duke of Ruffec . To died from this one in 1746, the peerage and the title of duke of Ruffec passed to the second wire of Louis of Saint-Simon, Armand-Jean who died in 1754. Peerage returned then to his/her father, last duke of Saint-Simon, who dies out in 1755.

  • 1723 - 1746: Jacques Louis de Rouvroy (1698 - 1746), wire of the 2nd duke of Saint-Simon, carries the title of duke of Ruffec;

  • 1746 - 1754: The title of duke of Ruffec passes to the younger brother of the precedent, Armand Jean de Rouvroy (1699 - 1754).
