Duchy of Carinthie
The Duchy of Carinthie (German: Slovenien Kärnten , : Koroška ) was a duchy located at current the south of the Austria and north of the Slovenia. It makes party edu Saint Germanic Roman Empire of 976 to its dissolution in 1806 then of the Austria-Hungary until in 1918. Since, it recovers mainly the Austrian state of Carinthie.
Medieval dynasties and carinthienne
To the VII {{E}} century, it belongs to the principality of Carantanie (Karantania), of 788 with 843 with the empire of Charlemagne then to the kingdom frankly of Louis II of Germanic. 889 with 927, it is Fief duchy of Bavaria.
In 976, Otton II separates Carinthie from the duchy of Bavaria. In 995, Adalberon d' Eppenstein is named Margrave, then duke in 1011. One removes the load in to him 1035, but the duchy remains in the bosom of Eppenstein until in 1122, before the family of Sponheim does not direct it during 160 years.
Habsbourg
Rodolphe I {{er}}, after having overcome Ottokar and to be become king d' Allemagne, gives in 1286 the duchy to Meinhard de Görtz. In 1335, after the death of Henri de Carinthie, the last man of the line, the Emperor Louis IV gives Carinthie and the South of the Tyrol in stronghold to the Habsbourg family. Habsbourg then controlled the duchy until 1918.
Following the example other components of the monarchy of Habsbourg, Carinthie remained a long time an semi-autonomous State having its own constitutional structure. Habsbourg divided their territories twice, in 1379 and 1564, and the duchy of Carinthie remained each time part of Austria Intérieure, controlled with the duchy of Styrie and Carniole.
Marie-Therese of Austria and Joseph II tried to create a unit state habsbourg and, in 1804, Carinthie is integrated into the Empire of Austria.

At the XXe century
Following the dissolution of Austria-Hungary at the end of the First World War, a Plébiscite takes place the October 10th 1920 in order to regulate the fate of Carinthie. The province is divided into two, the greatest part going to the Austria, where it forms a state, and the other with the Royaume of Yugoslavia (today abstract province of Slovenia).
