Duchy of Aremberg
The duchy of Aremberg or Arenberg is old a Duché of Germany, and current Belgium.
The ground of Aremberg was initially a county or burgraviat. It passed in 1298 in the house of the counts of the Mark. In 1547, this county échut by marriage with Jean de Barbançon, of the house of Line.
Raised with the row of Principality in 1576, it took seat among the States forming the Saint Germanic Roman Empire.
In 1644, it was set up in Duché, in favor of Albert, prince de Ligne and duke of Aerschoot, and continued until 1801 being immediate stronghold of the Empire: at that time, it was mediatized.
In 1815, most of the duchy passed under the sovereignty of the king de Hanovre, and the remainder was, with the borough of Aremberg, given to the Prussia.
