Ducati Paso
The Paso is a model of sporting motor bike , produced by the Italian firm Ducati.
1986. Ducati has just been repurchased by Cagiva. Massimo Tamburini took the reins of the design of the mark bolognaise. The new direction presents the first machine, Paso, in memory of the pilot Renzo Pasolini, tragically disappeared 13 years earlier.
But the new arrival shocks the ducatists. It is different from the remainder of the production by proposing a rather particular esthetics. Its engine is completely enclosed under the careenage, mechanics is invisible.
The engine is a pantah of 748 cm ³ developing more than 70 horses, begun again that which equips the 750 F1. The food is carried out by a carburettor double-corp Weber 44 mms in diameter.
Braking is entrusted to two discs 280 mms in diameter to before and of a simle disc of 270 mm to the back, the whole gripped by clamps Brembo simple piston. Taking into account the relatively high weight of the machine, more than 200 kg in functioning order, braking is not more effective.
The fork comes from Marzocchi and the shock absorber is Öhlins stamp.
The wheels have a diameter only of 16 inches, whereas the motor bikes of the same time are equipped with oues of 17, to see 18 inches. That induces a different road behavior at the time of the setting on the angle, and higher costs at the time of the purchase of the tires. In 1989, the 750 is replaced by the 906 Paso. The engine is identical to that which throne within the framework of the news 900 S. The engineers have nevertheless good year to equip this one with a liquid cooling, the integral careenage having the annoying tendency to keep the heat of the engine instead of evacuating it. It is given for 88 horses to 8.000 tr/min and 7 mkg to 6.500 tr/min. The gear box gains a report/ratio, which makes it possible to make pass maximum speed to 213 km/h. The weight is in rise and exceeds 210 dry kg. The part cycles and esthetics is identical to its devancière.
In 1991, the 906 Paso is replaced by the 907 i.e., forsaking the name of Paso, but preserving the esthetics which makes its fame. Main development comes from the adoption of a food per electronic injection Weber. The cycle part is corrected, the discs of front brake passes to 300 mms in diameter, while the back goes down to 245 mm. The wheels adopt a more conventional diameter of 17 inches. The footing passes to 1 490 Misters.
Paso never met the success which they deserved. Esthetics was too particular to allure the usual customers of Ducati.
