Dublin-south

The Comté of Southern Dublin (in Gaelic Contae Átha Cliath Theas ) is an administrative unit of the Irish Republic resulting from the partition of the Comté of Dublin in 1994. The administrative center of the County is in the town of Tallaght.

This County is the last County of Ireland to have had its limits modified to absorb the construction of the M50 by-pass (skirting Is of Dublin).

It is also the last County to have changed name. It was invited in the Belgard beginning to remember it the name of one of the fortresses of the border of the Pale located in this zone. This name change is will of modernization in order not to obstruct the development of zones of new technologies on the commune of Tallagh.

The surface of Southern Dublin covers 222,74 km ². The County is bordered by those of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown in the east, Wicklow in the south, Kildare in the west, Fingal in north and the town of Dublin in north east.

The County of Southern Dublin belongs to “Large Dublin” (Greater Dublin aired).
