Dual economy

The dual economy is a model of the economy of the development.

Initially, it applies to the companies where two economic sectors coexist, traditional - agriculture of subsistence, craft industry - and the other known as “modern” and related to the national or international trade (plantations, minings).

Today, the term also applies by extension to the economies under development where the formal sector does not manage to create jobs related to the economic exchanges of sufficient number, which maintains - or causes the birth of - a full informal sector.
