Dschang is a city of the west of the Cameroun and the prefecture of the department of the Menoua, populated approximately: 87000 inhabitants. It is one of the hearts of the country Bamiléké.
Located at the Western limits of the province of the West, Dschang is to approximately 60 km of Bafoussam (45 mn), 300 km of Douala (4 hours) and approximately 400 km of Yaounde (5 hours).
It is famous for its university which includes/understands the agricultural Agronomy and Faculty of Science (F.A.S.A).
With: 1400 meters of altitude, on the south-eastern slope of the Mounts Bamboutos, Dschang has a micro climate (average of 16 °C with 21 °C, maximum of 31 °C during the month the hottest in April), which makes a zone of holiday of it par excellence; it is after Foumban the first tourist destination of the Province of the West. The urban community of Dschang opened since July 1998 a Tourist bureau (BP 159), the first created in Cameroun, in collaboration with that of Nantes, the Loire Atlantique; correlatively the French Co-operation financed a project Assainissement of the City and Approvisionnement of certain districts of water.
Dschang is a historical city, under the German authority of 1884 to 1916, under British control of 1919 to 1920, and under French administration until the accession of Cameroun to independence (1960).
The place is very snuffed nationals and foreigners for their holidays.
