Drunk Rubber
Rubber Soul is the sixth album Beatles. It left the December 3rd 1965 after having been recorded in October, in only four weeks, in order to be available for Christmas. This album accepted many criticisms positive and was a great business success. It is produced by George Martin (which plays in addition of the Piano on In my life ) for EMI Records.
Rubber Soul is considered by certain as the major album of Beatles because they leave their period good boys . All the songs are written by the members of the group. New a instrument is used: the Sitar on Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) . The group is inspired in addition by Bob Dylan for the words. John Lennon and Paul McCartney treats with it, inter alia, of the complex love affairs.
The album remained forty two weeks in the British charts (of the December 11th 1965 at September 1966). The December 25th 1965, Rubber Soul exceeds in terms of sale the album Help! (the preceding album of the group). In May 1987, it returns in the charts during three weeks.
In 1998 the magazine Q gives Rubber Soul as being the fortieth best album of all times. In 2003, the television channel VH1 place the album in the sixth place, the magazine Rolling Stone , in the fifth place.
The Small pocket
The final small pocket is due to a stroke of luck. The photograph is of Robert Freeman, it was taken in the garden of the house of John Lennon in Kenwood, Weybridge, which offered to the photographer the desired colors (green, brown and black). The chance holds in fact in its deformed aspect. Paul McCartney reports it as follows: “Robert showed us the slides; he used a piece of paperboard of the size of a small pocket of disc to project the photographs above so that one can see what the result would resemble. We had just chosen the photograph when the paperboard rocked a little behind, deforming the image. It was stretched and one said: " It is that, Rubber So-o-oul, eh, eh! You can remake us that? ”
In connection with this small pocket the comment of George Harrison was the following: “We had lost our label of small innocent, our naivety, and Rubber Soul was the first disc where we had the air of truths smokers of grass”.
French anecdote
France being at the time almost at rest in August (and almost nobody not leaving there with its record player), the advertisement of the album Help had been deferred there to the re-entry of September so that the album goes up quickly and high in the Hit-parade S. the fans thus see two albums of Beatles appearing in three month (against an about bi-annual rate for the precedents). The singer Franck Alamo, invited by Daniel Filipacci with the emission Hello the buddies and who intended to repeat Beatles in the studios of Abbey Road, realizes that the songs that he heard are not on Rubber Soul . The rate of exit of the last two albums encourages it to venture on line to a few million young people a forecast: the following album is already in building site, and will arrive soon. It will not be the case and one will believe a long time in an error of the singer.
Exit states-unienne
There leave on December 6th, 1965 and remain 59 weeks in the charts. During six weeks in January and February 1966, it is in the first place. 1  is counted; 200 000 copies sold in nine days, and four million until today.
The Rubber Soul states-uniens leaves without the titles Drive My Because , Nowhere Man , If I Needed someone and What Goes One but with the titles I' ve Just Seen has Face and It' S Only Love . It sounds then more pop the titles not left will leave on the next album states-uniens Yesterday… and Today (known for its first small pocket, the small pocket butcher). This album reduced to 11 songs lasts 30 minutes very right against 36 minutes for the English edition.
