Drukpa

The Drukpa (Tib. druk "dragon" , Pa " personne" , implicant the idea d'" école") is one of the major schools of the tradition Kagyupa of the Bouddhisme Tibetan. Within the Drukpa line, there are various under-schools, the majority distributes in the east of the Tibet, the Kham. With the Bhutan the Drukpa line is the dominant school and religion of State.

Foundation

The Drukpa school was founded in the west of the Tibet by Tsangpa Gyare (1161 - 1211) which taught the Bouddhisme vajrayana, the Mahamudra and Six yogas of Naropa at the beginning. As a Tertön , or researcher of relics, it will découvra the text of Six Equal Tastes , previously hidden by Rechungpa, a student of Milarepa. During a pilgrimage Tsangpa Gyare and its disciples had the vision of nine dragon S howling in the sky and on the ground. Since this incident, they named their schools Drukpa .

Organization

To the Bhutan the school is directed by the king of Bhutan and I Khenpo, which is the chief of Central Monk Body. Both are the leaders of the Drukpa school.

Apart from Bhutan the order east governed by Jigme Pema Wangchen, the 12th incarnation of Gyalwang Drukpa, except for the Kham, where Khamtrul Rinpoche was traditionally the regent of the line.
