Dromadidae

The family of the dromadidés (or Dromadidae ) includes/understands only one species, the Drome ardéole or Pluvier crabier ( Dromas ardeola ), wader of intermediate size (38-41 cm), with long legs and thick and powerful nozzle.

One finds it on the coasts of the Indian Ocean, where he attends the coastal sand banks, the mudholes and the coral reefs.

Systematic position

Following tests of Hybridization of the DNA, the classification of Sibley and Monroe had integrated the drome ardéole into the family of the glaréolidés of which it constituted the subfamily of the dromadinés (or Dromadinae ).
