Drinking song
A drinking song is a song of end of meal which encourages the consumption of Vin, sometimes more largely of alcohol. The drinking songs are generally interpreted in group: for the meals of family, the banquets of Marriage, the festivals coeds…
Constitution of the songs
Even if it is difficult to establish a model common to all the drinking songs, those divide at least:- the presence of many explicit incentives to consumption;
- of the passages designed to stop singing and drinking glass bottom-dryness;
- the melodies are very varied, some not very elaborate, comprising only one or two musical sentences, a low amplitude, others being in polyphony (ex: the tourdion XVIieme century), or require a great vocal amplitude.
The musical style of the drinking song brings it much closer to the Bawdy song, and the latter can be a drinking song at the same time. It is noted however that the reciprocal one is false: the purpose of a drinking song is not to be grivoise.
