Geography
History
Drevant preserves the traces of a strong pertaining to worship activity of the period Gallo-Roman. The amphitheater, often considered wrongly as a place of bloody spectacles (fawn-coloured, gladiators) incrit in a complete and coherent religious unit:
- crowned space including/understanding 2 faded associated with a source;
- sanctuary of water, sometimes regarded as a hydropathic establishment;
- aqueducts feeding the sanctuary;
- distance of the ancient way (on other bank of Expensive).
One is unaware of the name of the divinities honoured in this place, but its extent and its geographical position do of them one of the crowned places most important of the city of Bituriges (see the museums of Saint-Amand-Montrond and Bourges).
A necropolis medieval was excavated between the priory and the parish church.
At the time feudal, the amphitheater is re-used to be used as a basis for a fortress depending on the seigniory on Charenton (digging of a well in the ground of the arêne and foundation of a vault castrale).
Ebb of Charenton gives in 1055 to the creusoise abbey Moûtier-with Ahun a ground for the construction of a Prieuré.
