Drefféac

Drefféac is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire.

The inhabitants of the commune name the Drefféens and Drefféennes .

Geography

History

before 1800 : Member of Baronnie of the Rock-Bernard to the Middle Ages, Drefféac is under the cut of the Saint-Gildas-of-Wood monks who are in charge of his spiritual administration until 1614. In 1713, a terrible fire destroys the church and all the houses of the borough. Until the end of the XVIIIe century, the territory drefféen is partly covered by the forest with the Pole and the boggy marshes which will be then drained. During the Revolution, the village appears rather republican, unlike the large majority of the inhabitants of the canton. The priest of Drefféac, Nicolas Pichon, gives up his priesthood in 1794 and becomes cleaned constitutional. He will become mayor of Drefféac thereafter.
