Drangedal

Drangedal is a forest commune of Norway, located in the county ( fylke ) of the Telemark which includes/understands the localities of Tørdal and Drangedal. The administrative center is located at the center of the commune with Prestestranda.

It borders the communes of Gjerstad in south-west, Nissedal in the west, Kviteseid in north Nome in the North-East, Skien in the east and Bamble and Kragerø in the south.

Demography

Drangedal counts 4.136 inhabitants in 2006.

Geography

Drangedal has a surface of 1.062 km ². The commune is located around the lake of Tokke, which counts many islands, and rivers which feed it.

Administration

The mayor of Drangedal is Mr Niels Tore Føreland ( Arbeiderpartiet - Parti Work (Norway)).

Economy

The economy consists essentially of agriculture and sylviculture, small industry, tourism and haulage companies.
