Dr. Slump

Dr. Slump (or Doctor Slump , 'Dr. スランプ', ドクタースランプ , dokutāsuranpu ) are a Manga Japanese of Akira Toriyama published between 1980 and 1985 in the weekly magazine Weekly Shonen Jump . The publication French E with the editions Glénat takes again 18 original volumes Tankōbon.

Synopsis

Doctor Slump (of his true name Senbei Norimaki) creates a Androïde which refers of a 13 year old young girl and decides to test it while inserting it in the life of the Pinguin village by presenting it like his/her Aralé sister. However this one has supers capacities (force, speed, intelligence) as well as a great naivety, and goes chambouler the life of the village inhabited by somewhat extravagant beings… The ultimate goal and unavowed of Senbei is to marry Midori Yamabuki, charming it teacher of the school of the Pingouin village.

Characters

The family

  • Aralé : Androide created by professor Slump, it is equipped with capacities which it puts at the service good.
  • Dr. Norimaki (known as Slump) Senbei: Professor touches with all, it creates many inventions of which Arale (or itself) in fact misuse (glasses to see only the naked living beings, machine to travel in time, to stop it, narrow or increase, spaceships). In love with the teacher with Aralé, Miss Yamabuki, it will end up marrying it and will have a Turbo son.
  • Miss Midori Yamabuki: Teacher and wife of the professor.

  • : Wire of the professor and Miss Yamabuki. Killed accidentally by the extraterrestrial ones whereas he was only baby, the latter ressuscitent it by conferring an intelligence higher to him than the doctor will take as the proof than it is his/her son.
  • Gatchan: Two cherubs adopted by Aralé after a temporal voyage at the time of the dinosaurs, they have an insatiable appetite because they had been sent on ground to eat all the species. They do not eat rubber. The true name is Gadzilla Norimaki (by the name of Ga will mera and Go' dzilla' ). At the beginning, there was one of them but it multiplied.

Friends

  • Akané Kimidori : neighbor of class of Aralé, it will become the best friend of Arale. Its family made up of her Aoï sister, her Kon father and her mother Murasaki (clone of American starlet) holds the coffee of the village
  • Pisuké Soramamé: Brother of Taro Soramamé, it is in the class of Aralé. He would like to impress like his brother, but he is handicapped by his small size and his bonnet in the shape of ears of animals.
  • Taro Soromamé : Older brother of Pisuké (2ans moreover), he is the son of the hairdresser of the village, Clikinton (clone of Clint Eastwood), whose passion is wrestling. Before the arrival of Aralé, it carried out a band of hooligans with Akané and Pisuké, but a show of force of Aralé will push it to accommodate it in the band. It will become after its studies police officer at the village.

Neighbors

  • Mr. Tsun: Chinese professor, it had created a vessel to take along his family on the the Moon, but Aralé will cut down it in full flight obliging them to settle at the village. It shares with professor Norimaki a passion for the erotic reviews and the eccentric inventions, which will make them become friendly.
  • Tsuntsunodanoteiyugo (known as Yugo) Tsun: It is the wife of Mr. Tsun.
  • Tsukutsun Tsun : Wire of Mr. Tsun, it at the age of Aralé and will go in class with her. Follower of martial arts, it has as characteristic to transform itself into tiger when a girl touches it (except Aralé because she is a robot).
  • Tsururin Tsun : Girl of Mr. Tsun, it at the age of Taro. It has psychic faculties which enable him to fly or to direct people or objects according to her will.

Other notable characters

  • Suppaman : Caricature Superman, it divides several character traits with this last; it hides its identity under a traditional costume and glasses and changes in the phone boxes, its costume of superhéros is identical (except the initials) to that of Superman. But it has no to superpouvoir from where its behavior: extremely with weak the, weak one with the forts, it did not achieve any miracle quite to the contrary (fish rescue of the drowning, arrest of a statue).

  • Obbotchaman (Caramelman n°4): Copy improved (especially more polished) of Aralé in male form created by professor Mashirito, it will be turned over against its creator losqu' it will include/understand the real objective of this one and will join Aralé.

Anecdotes

  • the characters of the series had such a success that they became characters of amusement park in Asia. Jackie Chan in the Cop of HongKong carries a costume of Aralé in a scene of spinning mill in one of these parks.
  • a Playstation video game left to Japan
  • the characters the series make an appearance in volume 7 of Dragon Ball, of the same author, at the time of an episode concerning the saga of the army of the Red Ribbon. Aralé appears in the third medium-length film animated Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball 3 - the mystical adventure.
  • the author included the series in comic strips colors in the V-Jump magazine (this version remains new in France) in which Sangoku, the hero of Dragon Ball, makes an appearance.

Adaptations

Animated series

The Studio Toei made two of them adaptation in Anime under the name of Dr. Slump . The first series includes/understands 243 episodes carried out between 1981 and 1986. One second series of 74 episodes was carried out between 1997 and 1999. Ten short films (about fifty minutes) also left between 1981 and 1997.

Video games

Following the success of the new animated series of Dr.Slump, leaves, in 1999 in Japan, a adapatation concerned video. It is a play of plateform/ventures on Playstation and developed by Bandai. It is a play of the " kind; Tail Concerto" or " Capcom' S Megaman Legends" in a scatologic environment of gag expensive with Aralé, the heroin of the play. All the characters récurents series, the places and the situations mild nutters are found there. The design of the characters is the same one as in the new series, of the looks more " modernes". A very good adaptation but only in Japanese version.

Aralé is also present in the play Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as a playable character. It is equipped with 3 different attacks, of which an ultimate attack. At the time of the one of its attacks, it calls upon Gatchan. The arena of the Pingouin village is also present in the play. All that is a large wink with Akira Toriyama.
