Dr. Pepper

Dr. Pepper (to pronounce Dr. doctor) is oldest of the American Soda S . In the beginning manufactured artisanalement in a Hardware of Waco (Texas) by called Morrisson, the drink was its first success when it was put on sale in 1895. Morrisson which was thus the creator of this drink named it of a rather atypical name: Dr. Pepper. Reason of this choice: a doctor of Virginia being called Charles Pepper was the first to give an employment to Morrisson.

Aspect and taste

The aspect of Dr. Pepper is visually the same one as that of a soda to cola: brown, and with the same type of bubbles, i.e. extremely semi-sparkling.

Its taste points out a little the bitter almond, which evoked a long time for the French schoolboys the odor of the paste. One obtains a rather nearby taste, although nonidentical, while placing some drops of bitter almond gasoline in a soda with unspecified cola (6 drops per liter).

Marketing

To the Worldwide market of Saint-Louis in 1904, the drink was distributed to million visitors and knew an immediate passion. After these encouraging beginnings, Dr. Pepper became one of the largest American companies of cooling.

In 1986, Dr. Pepper amalgamated with Seven-Up in order to form the Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Corporation which was repurchased besides in 1995 by Cadbury Schweppes plc for thus becoming the largest drink firm external with the Coca-Cola Company.

For a few years, Dr. Pepper has not been distributed any more in France. In Swiss, Dr. Pepper is available to the Coop.
