Geography
History
In the Dozulé beginning was not called Dozulé but Plessis-Esmangard, name with consonance Viking. This change intervened during the one hundred year old war when Edouard III of England and its troops unloaded England, in 1346. During their tour in Normandy, they reflect fire at the village. The inhabitants called the place Dos Flaring which changed with the wire of time by corruption of the language. It seems that Dos Flaring comes from a Latinism meaning the mountain which burns. Dozulé remained a long time a borough of no importance until the Révolution. The latter worked for the creation of an road axis (main road 175) between Caen and Rouen. This axis passed near Dozulé which saw opportunity there of extending. The center thus moved around the road and the village tripled its population from the trade and industry. Dozulé became under Louis-Philippe place chief of canton to the detriment of Divine-on-Sea. The history repeated on August 20th, 1944. Dozulé burned once more following the combat which are passérent there between the allies and German.

The old parish church of Dozulé was in the beginning the vault of the castle of Silly. It was located far from the current borough at the place where now a small vault in the cemetery is. In 1832, the inhabitants decided that this vault, lends to fall in ruin, was too small to accommodate all the population (nearly 900 hearts) and that it was too much far from the borough (approximately 1,5 kilometer). It was decided to use all materials coming from the old church and launching a subscription. A request was made to the king, Louis-Philippe in 1834 to have funds before beginning work. This one was refused. The abbot Durand, the priest of the time, thus encouraged his flocks to put the hand at the pocket and the example showed them by paying 1000 francs. One needed 10000 of them. It collected 20000 of them. Later, it collected 64000 more francs. Work was decided in 1841 and first stone poses it took place in 1843. The last mass in the old church took place in 1846.
