Definition
A dowry is an exchange of good which accompanies the Mariage in certain cultures. It can be a question of goods with which the young wife is equipped by her family, or contrary to a gift to the husband to his wife or with the family of this one.
Categories of dowries
The dowries can be of two main categories

That paid by the husband with the father of the young girl for the expenses of education of this one.

That paid by the young groom with the engaged couple.
