Down Syndrome
Tigran Vardanovitch Petrossian (born the June 17th 1929 with Tbilissi (the USSR, Georgia) parents Arménie NS and dead the August 13rd 1984 with Moscow) is a world champion of failures.
In 1945 and 1946, it gained the championship of the USSR junior.
international Large-Master, it took part in several cycles of selection for the championship of the world, and became world champion in 1963, by beating Mikhaïl Botvinnik. The match revenge was abolished at the time of this cycle. In 1966, it gave concerned its title against Boris Spassky and preserved his title. Spassky will seize the world crown later only three years in 1969.
Petrossian was a player considered for his defensive talent and its positional play: “I am deeply convinced that the failures, although they remain a play, have nothing to do with the chance. It is my creed. I appreciate only the parts in which I played in accordance with the requirements of the position. I believe only in the logic and the correction of the play. ”
