Doveton Sturdee

Balian d' Ibelin , lord of Beirut, died in 1247, wire of Jean d' Ibelin, the Old Lord of Beirut and Mélisende d' Arsour.
It succeeded his father in the seigniory of Beirut and continued the fight against the partisans of the emperor Frederic II. It removed in particular the town to them of Tyr the June 12th 1243.
He had married in 1229 Echive of Montbeliard and had had:
- Balian, dead young
- Hugues (1231 † 1254), married about 1251 in Marie of Montbeliard
- Jean, († 1264), lord of Beirut
- Isabelle, married about 1250 in Henri de Giblet († 1271)
