Colombes is a city francilienne located in the north-western suburbs of Paris. With its: 83100 inhabitants, Colombes is the seventh commune of Île-de-France and the third city of the Hauts-de-Seine. Larger suburban city of the small Parisian crown, it remains nevertheless a diversified territory.

History

• the historians think that the first agglomeration is contemporary of Paris, Of the excavations which took place about 1828, made it possible to find flint tools and cut stone axes. Several authors support that a Gallo-Roman city and an atrium existed as of the 6th century with the site of the Small island 14, Of the druidesses would then have settled in the islands of the Seine.

In the Colombian territory, the socio-economic inequalities are strong: each month, it remains at disposal of the poorest household of Doves 280 euros per individual excluded taxes, this figure rises with 4000 euros for the richest household. The population of the city remains young, the age bracket the most represented being that of the 39-59 years, then that of the 29-59 years. Demography

Administration

Doves was cut down by certain districts to form the communes of Wood-Doves in 1896 and the Garenne-Doves in 1910. It is twinned at the German city of Frankenhtal.

The city is divided into three cantons:

• the Canton of Dove-North-Is account 24  425 inhabitants; general adviser: Philippe the Saar (Socialist party)
• the Canton of Dove-North-West account 24  606 inhabitants; general adviser: Michele Fritsch (French Communist party)
• the Canton of Dove-South account 27  726 inhabitants. general adviser: Nicole Gouéta (Union for a popular movement - Elected under label Gathering for France)

… and in two legislative districts, districts divided with the close cities:

• 1st district of the Hauts-de-Seine (canton Dove-North-Is; canton Dove-North-West; Gennevilliers; Villeneuve-the-Garenne). Deputy: Roland Muzeau (French Communist party)
• 2nd district of the Hauts-de-Seine (canton Southern Doves; Asnières-sur-Seine). Deputy: Manuel Aeschlimann (Union for a popular movement)

The current Maire of Doves is Nicole Goueta (elected under label RPF, today UMP). She was elected into 2001 vis-a-vis Dominique Frelaut (PCF), mayor of Doves of 1965 to 2001. The main force of opposition is the Socialist party animated by Maurice Lobry, regional adviser, Philippe the Saar general adviser and Michele Etcheberry, municipal adviser. Other political clouts with Colombes: the French Communist party (Michele Fritsch, Evelyne Bouchouicha, Bernard Destrem), the Greens (Dominique Frager), the MODEM (Leïla Leghmara, Michel Kid), Motivated in Doves.

The town of Doves was equipped as a whole with its polling stations with machines with E-voting (Nedap) at the time of the elections of 2007.

The last revision of the Local plan of town planning dates from the year 2003. The northern part of Doves, flooded at the time of the centennial rising at the beginning of the 20th century, is classified with the Prevention plan of Risks (PPR). The Programmed Operations of Improvement of Habitat (POIH) tend to equip the last residences with the south of the commune still little equipped out of equipment “with comfort” (showers, WC,…). 3 districts of the commune profit from the assistances of the ANRU as regards urban renewal. A town council of the young people meets regularly and proposes new ideas and projects for the city.

The policy followed as regards town planning since 2002 by the municipal majority to Colombes consists for much of the land stock management. Pre-emption consists of a tool intended for a quasi immediate resale of land with the property developers by the town hall. The projects started since 2006 start to present a certain reflection as regards town planning, and can be seen allotting the term of " urbain" project;.

Sport

The city has a stage, the Olympic stadium Yves-of-Manor, inaugurated in 1907, which accommodated the Olympic Games of 1924 (see the film Carriages of fire ), the World cup of Football in 1938, and of many other international sporting meetings. It lost of its importance after the restoration of another great stage of the Paris region, the Parc of the Princes, in the Années 1970. It could accommodate until 60  000 spectators, but its capacity was largely reduced, the most decayed platforms having been destroyed.

Doves was candidate with Paris with the organization of the Olympic Games of summer of 2012. The city would have accommodated the tests of Base-ball and Softball on the site of the current stage Yves-of-Manor (sports which, in any case, will not finally form part of those which will be held with the OJ of 2012…).

Town planning

Doves is the first suburban commune of the small Parisian crown. The arrival of the railways and industrial rise constitute two of the stages key in the urbanization of the city. The development of the surfaces of attraction of Defense and Paris since end of the year 1990 tend to place Colombes in a new dynamics towards which the policies of town planning were directed, with the image of the building of Southern the Charles-of-Gaulle boulevard which accommodates the registered office of the Oracle company since 2001. The turn towards the tertiary sector is started under mandature of Dominique Frelaut, mayor of 1965 to 2001, then taken again by Nicole Gouéta.

Profiting with length from the 20th century from vitality from industries, the north of Doves, integrated in " the Loop of Or" Hauts-de-Seine, clash today with the industrial crisis. The construction of office buildings was impelled in this direction as from the years 1990. Completed in 2001, a building of the Charles-of-Gaulle boulevard accommodates the head office of the Oracle company. By synergy, the new building Western Defense was inaugurated in 2007. In addition to these installations, the " perimeter of study Charles de Gaulle" the pre-emption of houses inside suburban spaces of the west of the Charles-of-Gaulle boulevard envisages. Source of rejection of the inhabitants, the erosion of suburban fabric in the west of Doves caused the creation of an residents' association of defense of the inhabitants.

Doves is one of the production sites of the Snecma. It accommodated the factories Guerlain, and Kleber. It has sheltered also certain sites of Alcatel, Thalès communication and for a few years the head office of Oracle France. With the economic development and the gold place offered to the promoters clashes today the need for protecting the zones from suburban habitat, largest of the small Parisian crown.

Three projects financed by the ANRU could involve in the next years the rehabilitation of a great unit located in edge of the Seine (Strikes), as well as the destruction of two other large units, Europe-Island-Marante, and Ditch-Jean Michelet, replaced by new mixed programs.
