Dovecot

Dovecot is a waiter IMAP and POP3 for the operating systems Unix and derived, conceived with like first drank safety. Dovecot is distributed in double-license MIT and LPG version 2.

Functionalities

Dovecot manages the formats of box of transport Mbox and Maildir. The Maildir++ quotas are also managed. It deals with in a complete way IMAP4 revision 1 and POP3.

The methods of identifications offered are CRAM-MD5, DIGEST-MD5, APOP, NTLM of Microsoft, GSSAPI (Kerberos v5), RPA, LOGIN, using an impersonal account, OTP and SKEY. Dovecot also proposes grafts (see section Module) which make it possible to increase the number of functionalities.

Dovecot offers to the administrators of many tools for migration of waiters Uw-IMAP, Uw-POP3, Linuxconf, VIMAP, Courier IMAP and POP3 like Cyrus IMAP and POP3.

The IPv6, SSL and TLS are dealt with.

The operating systems dealt with are GNU/Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and MacOSX.

Modules

Module quota for the reinforcement and the follow-up of the quotas.
Module imap_quota to question the actual position of the quotas.
Module acl for the control of the access to the boxes of transport.
Module convert to pass from a model of box of transport to the other to the connection of the user.
Module trash in order to erase the emails of the Trash repertory when the user exceeds his quota.
Module lazy_expunge in order to make that orders EXPUNGE and DELETE do nothing but move the emails at another place.
Module expires which makes it possible to erase the email S at the end of a certain number of days.
Module zlib which allows an access in reading alone the box of transport compressed to the format Gzip.
Module mail_log in order to record actions of the emails.
