Douvaine
Douvaine is a common Frenchwoman of the Haute-Savoie, in Rhone-Alps area, in the French Chablais.
Located on the old Roman way, today RN 5. Douvaine is the place Chief of Canton gathering 14 communes: Ballaison, Good-in-Chablais, Brenthonne, Chens-on-Léman, Excenevex, Douvaine, Fessy, Loisin, Lully, Massongy, Messery, Nernier, Veigy-Foncenex and Yvoire.
It is the crossroads of strategic roads. The RN 5 - called formerly the imperial way - driving of Geneva with Thonon crosses the RN 206 in direction of Annemasse. Douvaine is located meadows of the Suisse border, on the basis of the place of the town hall, less than 6 km are to be traversed on N5 for Geneva, to pass from Haute-Savoie to the canton of Geneva. The communes with the accesses of Douvaine are Chens-on-Léman and Messery in North, Veigy in the west, Loisin and Ballaisson in the south, as Massongy in the east. It is more than 20.000 vehicles which cross Douvaine each day.
Douvaine counted 3.924 inhabitants in 2002. Today Douvaine counts more than 4.160 inhabitants (2006).

The bell-tower of the church of Douvaine is XII century a strengthened bell-tower.
The strong House of Chilly had to belong to the prerogative of a noble family of Chilly. This manor dates the XV century. It shelters the restaurant " today; O Flaveurs".
